일하는 여성 62% "애 안 낳겠다"

결혼과 출산 적령기인 25세부터 45세 사이의 경제활동을 하는 여성 10명 중 7명은 자녀가 2명 이상은 있어야 이상적이라고 생각하는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 10명 중 6명은 출산할 의향이 없었다. 자녀 계획에 대한 이상과 현실이 크게 괴리돼 있는 것이다.

27일 한국경제신문이 여론조사 전문업체 입소스에 의뢰해 경제활동을 하는 25~45세 여성 1000명을 대상으로 2월 5~20일 온라인 설문조사를 해 분석한 결과 응답자의 62.2%가 ‘앞으로 자녀를 출산할 생각이 없다’고 답했다. 미혼 여성은 66.6%가, 기혼 여성은 59.2%가 자녀를 낳을 의향이 없다고 했다. 미혼 여성의 55.0%는 결혼할 마음이 없다고 응답했다.

출산하지 않으려는 이유(복수 응답)로는 ‘육아에 구속되기 싫어서’ ‘경제적으로 여유롭지 못해서’ ‘자아실현에 장애가 될 거 같아서’ 등을 꼽았다.

2005년 2조원에 머물던 저출산 예산이 지난해 50조4000억원으로 가파르게 불어났지만 합계출산율은 지속적으로 하락세를 보였다. 특히 2015년을 기점으로 출산율이 급격히 떨어졌는데, 같은 기간 여성의 경제활동은 빠르게 늘었다. 여성들이 자녀 대신 일을 선택하기 위해 출산을 포기했거나 늦춘 것이라는 분석이 나온다. 중앙부처 공무원인 김지혜 씨(가명·37)는 “출산을 앞두거나 아이를 기르는 여성 직원과 같이 일하는 것을 동료들이 부담스러워한다”며 “여성 스스로가 임신·출산·육아를 회사에 민폐를 끼치는 것으로 여기게 된다”고 했다.
