손자와 갔다 추락사…스타필드 번지점프, 안전검사 대상 아니었다

지난 26일 오후 4시 20분쯤 스몹 내 번지점프 기구에서 A(69)씨가 8m 아래 콘크리트 바닥에 떨어져 숨졌다. 매트 앞 콘크리트 바닥에 떨어진 A씨는 병원으로 옮겨졌으나 1시간여 만에 사망했다. 사고 당일 A씨는 두 딸, 손자들과 함께 스타필드 안성을 찾았다가 변을 당했다.

29일 경찰과 경기 안성시 등에 따르면 스타필드 안성에 입점해있는 ‘스포츠 몬스터(스몹)’는 유원시설업으로 등록돼있다. 유원시설의 경우 관광진흥법에 따라 문화체육관광부의 관리를 받는다. 하지만 스몹 내 기구 23개 중 트램펄린 ‘붕붕뜀틀’만 유기기구로 신고돼있다. 유기기구는 2년에 한 번 확인 검사를 받아야 하는데, 이번에 사고가 발생한 번지점프 기구 ‘프리폴’을 비롯해 파이프 등을 잡고 오르는 ‘클라이밍’, 양팔로 바(bar)를 잡고 낙하하는 ‘버티컬 슬라이드’ 등 나머지 22개 기구는 유기기구 등록 대상이 아니었다.

안성시 관계자는 “스몹 공간은 체육시설업으로 신고된 사업장이 아니다”라며 “붕붕뜀틀과 주변 153.45㎡을 제외한 나머지 기구, 공간은 유기기구, 유원시설이 아니기 때문에 지역자치단체에서 확인하거나 점검을 하는 대상이 아니다”라고 말했다.
